Walking Pad Setup Guide
Walking Pad Setup & Maintenance Guide
Our range of walking pads are designed to be simple, convenient, and ready to use straight out of the box. Most users can go from unboxing to walking in just a few minutes. This guide covers the basics of setup, positioning, and general care so you can get the best experience from your walking pad.
1. Unboxing & Initial Setup
What’s included
Most VirtuFit walking pads arrive with:
- The walking pad unit
- Power cable
- Remote control
- Quick‑start instructions
Getting started
- Remove all packaging and place the walking pad on a flat, stable surface.
- Check for enough clearance around the pad — ideally 1 metre behind and 0.5 metres on each side.
- Plug the power cable into the socket on the side or rear of the unit.
- Switch on the power using the button on the pad (usually located near the cable port).
- Use the remote to start the belt at a slow speed.
Most VirtuFit pads require no assembly — they’re designed to be plug‑and‑walk.
2. Positioning Your Walking Pad
For home office use
If you’re pairing the pad with a desk:
- Ensure your desk height allows you to walk comfortably without hunching.
- Keep your monitor at eye level to maintain a natural posture.
- Position the pad so you can walk in a straight, relaxed line without drifting.
For general use
- Place the pad on a flat, non‑slippery surface.
- Avoid thick carpets that may affect stability.
- Ensure the area is well‑lit and free from obstacles.
3. First-Time Use Tips
Start slow
Begin at a comfortable pace. Many users start around 2–3 km/h when multitasking.
Get used to the belt
Walking pads feel slightly different from outdoor walking. Give yourself a few minutes to adjust.
Use natural arm movement
If you’re not typing, let your arms swing naturally to maintain a steady rhythm.
Take breaks
Short breaks help you stay comfortable during longer sessions.
4. General Maintenance
Walking pads require very little upkeep, but a few simple habits will keep yours running smoothly.
Keep the belt clean
Dust and debris can build up over time.
Wipe the belt and surrounding area with a dry or slightly damp cloth.
Check belt alignment
If the belt begins to drift left or right:
- Use the adjustment screws at the back of the pad
- Turn very slightly (⅛ turns) until the belt recentres
This is normal and part of regular use.
Lubricate when needed
Most walking pads benefit from occasional lubrication under the belt.
VirtuFit models typically require:
- A silicone‑based lubricant
- Light application every few months depending on usage
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions for your specific model.
Store safely
If your pad folds:
- Fold it fully
- Store it flat or upright against a wall
- Avoid damp areas
5. Troubleshooting Basics
The belt feels slippery
Often solved by:
- Applying a small amount of silicone lubricant
- Ensuring the belt is centred
The pad won’t start
Check:
- Power cable connection
- Switch on the pad itself
- Remote control battery
The belt makes noise
Light noise is normal.
If it becomes louder:
- Clean under the belt
- Check alignment
- Apply lubrication
6. Everyday Best Practices
- Wear comfortable, supportive footwear
- Keep your workspace tidy to avoid tripping hazards
- Start with shorter sessions and build up gradually
- Pair walking with simple tasks like emails or calls
- Keep the remote nearby for quick speed adjustments
